The review from the two skiers was that the snow was very icy. We ended up having to leave early because they didn't feel safe and we're not enjoying the ice. Indoors, it was a busy day. I was upstairs at one of the tables and my only complaint is that the WiFi was not great up there. The food was as expected at a ski resort, so no surprises there. The staff I interacted with was super nice.

Conditions and terrain on the one circle they have are TERRIBLE. super icy, narrow and STEEP...and too many people on a Thursday night, no less! Definitely not for beginners. We tried twice, thinking the first time was just bad conditions. The second time was even worse - we quit after the second run. And I am a relatively experienced snowboarder, I did double diamonds at Catamount regularly, and had an easier time. The circle is DEFINITELY not a circle. I also heard this same opinion on the trail, from complete strangers, so I know it wasn't just us. Only the very end of the circle is an actual circle.

This gal rocked her ski lessons this week at SkiSundown! One week full of lessons! She jumped out of bed each morning and most times was waiting for me to get ready! She made friends along the way and today on her last day her new friend and her took off before their lessons even started and went skiing together! Best experience I’ve had! And I already went through this with her older brother! Thanks @skisundown love having you in our backyard! #skisundownct #newhartford #skitheeast #happykidmakesforahappymom #love

We purchased tickets online in advance for snowboarding lessons at 12:30. First let me say that the snowboarding instructor Paul B was amazing! He was patient, kind, attentive, positive and enthusiastic. Lessons last 90 minutes. BUY LESSON TICKETS ONLINE IN ADVANCE THEY ARE USUALLY SOLD OUT!!!! The group had about 30 people into it so we had 3 instructors assigned to us. What I didn't like is the sheer volume of people left us with no where to learn so we ended up at the bottom of the bunny slope. The problem is there are a line of people waiting to use the bunny slope lift and the line goes straight across the bottom of the bottom of the bunny slope. That means if you don't know how to stop (and stopping on a snowboard isn't like skiing) then you run into people. The other option is to fall, which we ended up doing a lot, and walking away with sore behinds. If the lines curved a different direction then it would've been a much experience. There's not really much to eat there except a small grill and tables that were packed with people... Not eating... I've been to other ski resorts and if you're a first timer go somewhere else that has proper lines and a dedicated space to learn snowboarding. That way you won't hurt yourself and can build up confidence to go this resort!

We bought 4 season passes for the first time this fall. We thought this was the premier mountain in CT and was looking to start our kids out locally but they can't open when all their competitors can. I understand you can't control the …

First time visiting this mountain with my 8 year old whom is a new skier. We visited on a Wednesday evening because of their Sunnyside Learning Area, which was great! This area is dedicated for brand new and novice skiers. It includes 2 magic carpets right next to each other that take you to either a small or large bunny hill, and 1 small ski lift to 3 smaller trails for those that have graduated from the bunny hill but may not be ready for the larger regular trails. The only downside to this ski resort is that it only had 1 ski lift to take you to the top of the mountain operating, and the wait to get on was extremely long and packed with people. (edit: it has 2 main ski lifts but only 1 was operating at the time) This was on a weekday evening, so I can only imagine how much worse it would be on the weekends. I would visit again, especially since they have night skiing every day of the week.

Great operations. Coverage is as good as mountains farther north, and the drive is shorter. You could fish the Race in the morning and ski Sundown in the evening without breaking a sweat.

Here after year, ski sundown is by far the best swap in the Connecticut region. Put on by the ski sundown Ski Patrol, which is a great group of people, they work hard to make the customers happy. Great selection of boots, skis, snowboards, and even clothing. Every year we end up taking more friends and family up to experience it.
